GECKO- BALL AKUPRESSURE GYMNASTIC METHODS |

The ROLLING method On using the rolling method the
Gecko-Ball is placed between the body and a wall and rolled to and fro by the body weight of the user, so that the energy vascular system concerned is opened up. The Gecko was chosen as the symbol because the main
application with the Gecko-Ball consists of both balls running down and across between the body and the wall, like the gecko. By this method stronger energy potentials are transferred over a larger area. In this way
the circulation of energy is promoted and better blood circu1ation ensured. By the simultaneous use of back massage and leg exercise, not only backache is eased but also the leg muscles are strengthened.
That is very important for vitality. |

Rolling up and down
with the back to the wall. The balls lie parallel on
the desired spot. First of all take a step forwards with both feet. The shoulder blades remain leaning against the wall. The feet are apart at shoulder width and about 30 cm from the wall; if necessary
correct during the treatment. An important rule: the further the feet are apart, the greater is the pressure by the back on the balls. The legs are carefully bent and stretched out again, in doing
which the balls are by this means rolled along the wall with the body leaning against the balls; the spine at the same time remain upright (Illustration. 1. ). One can also use one ball. This strengthens the muscular system, trains
endurance, fortifies the heart circulatory system long term -and also prevents round shoulders. |

Rolling to the left and right
with the back to the wall. The feet are apart, the foot of the leg or hip part to be treated being close to the wall and the other foot
about 30 cm from the wall. The balls are on top of each other on the desired spot (Illustration. 2. ). Then move the body or the hips to and fro -to the left and right as in belly dancing. This technique can be used on the whole of the back, respectively on
one foot and on the hip part. |

The PUSHING method
The pushing method comes from the "pression" Akupressure method. Pression is the exercise of pressure, the pressure moves forwards on the situs to be treated. The pushing method is performed in
the Gecko-Ball method, not with the thumb but with the Gecko-Ball, which is moved to and fro on the point concerned by one's own body weight. This brings about the removal of tendon adhesion and is a
deep reaching manipulation technique. Pushing to left and right :
The body movement in pushing to the left and the right is exactly the same as in rolling to the left and right; the difference between the two methods lies in the fact that in pushing to the left and right
the balls are side by side between wall and back. In rolling to the left and right the balls are put on top of each other . Pushing up and down:
The body movement in pushing up and down is exactly the same as in rolling up and down. In this case, in contrast to rolling
up and down (balls lie side by side) the balls are placed on top of each other. The pushing method can also be combined with the ro1ling method. Balls lie side by side; in this way one
can push 3 times to the left and right and afterwards ro1l up and down -or in reverse sequence. If the balls lie on top of each other, push 3 times up and down and immediately afterwards 3 times to left and right.

The TAPPING method In the tapping method the
Gecko-Ball is used to stimulate the Akupuncture point. In doing so the treatment is carried out with dynamic movement in order to maintain mobility and vitality and to treat aches and pains in the limbs. This is
characterised by powerful stimulation. With this method one must slowly increase the intensity of the percussion, but not thereby exceed the limits of what is bearable. It will be necessary to wear thicker clothing

Tapping with legs raised inwards
The right leg is raised in the direction of the left knee and at the same time the inside of the leg is stimulated at point MP 6 with the ball,
which the left hand is holding, by short light taps. The other side is dealt with in the same way (Illustration. 3. )
.. This exercise should not be made use of against insomnia due to varicose veins. |

Tapping by swinging the upper part of the body to and from
The starting position as in the case of diagonal percussion. On this occasion ball B is first of all drawn away from ball A. The
right hand grasps ball B. Now the elbows are raised. By swinging the upper part of the body to and fro, ball A is set in motion (Illustration. 4. ). This method stimulates not only the back, but the bodily rotation will
keep the back mobile and at the same time helps to reduce tension in the shoulders. |

Tapping with knees drawn upThe movable ball B is drawn to the end of the cord. Both hands hold the knees in front of the ball. Now the knee is drawn up alternately in turn and
the upper and outer side of the right leg is stimulated with the right hand as well. The left leg is dealt with correspondingly
(Illustration. 5. ). |

The STRECHING method Stretching is a natural
impulse; thus one stretches to combat tiredness. After stretching one feels refreshed. As a form of body training, stretching exercises are of importance. On the one hand these stretching exercises promote
relaxation, on the other they produce invigoration and are therefore an ideal balancing out of Yin and Yang. According to Yin and Yang it is said: The contrast of the two aspects of Yin and Yang should never be
understood as absolute, but always as relative. The two are found at every stage, both Yin and Yang. With a normal muscle it is the case that tension (Yang) and relaxation (Ying) alternate. A tensed
muscle means: the muscle is prevented from relaxing because of constant nervous disability. The stretching principle is based on the objective of breaking down the lasting condition by first contracting and
then stretching a muscle. This relaxes tensed muscles and has a positive effect, especially on the spine. During the stretching one automatically breathes in deeply, the body thereby being cleansed, because
on breathing in, the diaphragm falls. Through the fall of this complementary breathing musculature a pressure is exerted on the intestines which thereby intensively stimulates their function, especially the
excretory function. With the Gecko-Ball gymnastics each position is thereby combined with Akupressure. By simultaneous stimulation of the Akupuncture points and carrying out of the stretching exercises the aim of
the Gecko-Ball gymnastics lies not only in exercising the muscles, especially the back muscles, but also in getting energy moving, so that where energy is stagnating it is unlocked. For this there are
exercises in all, such as for example: |

Stretching of hip joint while sitting:
Sit on the ground and cross one knee
over the other. The ba1l lies under the outside of the leg. Supporting oneself with the hands and sitting there as upright as possible, hold for a few seconds. Do likewise with the other side
(lllustration. 6.). |

The bridge Position
Lay the balls apart parallel to both sides of the shoulder girdle. Bend the feet to the knees, lay both palms of the hands on the ground. Then
tense the gluteal muscle, raising the pelvis from the ground. The pelvis should be higher than the naveI. This posture relieves aches and pains in the lumbar vertebrae, while the gluteal, stomach and
thigh muscles are strengthened (lllustration. 7.).

The cat position Kneel down with closed legs. Place the balls under the instep or the hollow of the
knee. Then take up the quadruped position. Keep the hands on the ground. Slowly lower the buttocks onto the heels and sit on the balls. Stretch the lower back area and the spine, while the hands are
stretched out wide in front of the body (lllustration. 8.)
. This method reduces tenseness in the back. |
